2 Genres

The way I would reveal my 2 genres is through memes. One of the being comical scene and other would be the poster. Presented memes are mine.

The way I present my meme would be through the internet since, it is not a norm to send mail of memes, doing graffiti of memes, having a protest sign with the meme. The Internet is the place where it is expected upon the repetition of the behavior to replicate a certain idea or representation that would become a skewed representation that some specific demographic would understand and know. The reason why meme dies or become less relevant it is either because it becomes too relevant and mainstream or people lose the attention of the meme. A meme that is successful and that I see almost every day it is Pepe the frog. Originally from the comic Boy’s Club and was popularized on 4chan this meme became in use. A frog saying “FeelsGoodMan” or “FeelsBadMan”, was simple and popular representation on the internet. This frog became the symbol of the troll or memorable community. A community that made their imaginary country called Kekistan and make fun of the state of the internet. This meme went through some controversy, though the reason why it is still alive from dating of 2008 because it became a representation of the internet community. No mainstream would take Pepe the frog seriously and not everybody understands it, though it safe to say this meme I see almost every day on chat in the streaming platform called Twitch. They have emotes that are Pepe the frog or interpretation of the liking of this frog. So how this frog relates to my topic of guns and is able to be represented in my meme. It is simple, clash memes together to convey my point and being relevant.

This meme would be effective to convey my audience, everybody knows the situation and the context I am using. The idea is there, so what left me to do is to replicate this meme though different media to cause the chain reaction of the internet. Some idea will spread through many sides and being talked through the means presented. Either it is hatred or likability of the meme what is important that message is going through the minds of the people. If I do so then the conversation can be started and minds can be changed. I may say it is the reachable task to do, though it is liable to change the policies maker’s mind about guns, the answer is no. It’s fine if mainstream media will demonize this doing what is important is to change the perception of the topic and then the pieces would move in the right direction. I am mindful that flashback could be seen from the media such as twitter and facebook to ban or block account since they are moving more to the left and don’t want to deal with consequences of the angry mob.

This meme is simple yet effective. It doesn’t use Pepe the Frog but it does include a straightforward picture of a cute girl with the gun. I choose this girl since she could be an ordinary American in which it would unusual to see the gun. This meme might get viral if the topic of guns would be on the news, other than that who cares? I still use this meme to convey people to think, those people are still internet community that looks up for memes. I do think people don’t know that every third citizen of this country owns a gun and what would be their way of thinking toward solving a gun problem. Most of the gun users are to protect themselves no to take advantage of the victim.

My comic and poster are provoking the thinking about guns in the most modern way there is, through memes.
